Broad Ripple

Project Overview

The owners of Usual Suspects, a Broad Ripple staple, were rebranding the concept and revamping the front of house space. A rework of the original front of house layout was planned for to accommodate a better flow of traffic and the new concept. After sourcing bids from larger construction

companies in town that could not meet deadline or start date, Boaz Construction was able to start immediately and meet deadline. The result was a beautiful new space for an established business to thrive in for years to come.

Project Highlights

Custom wainscoting along the walls, built-in cabinetry for behind the bar storage and liquor display, decorative cedar siding on the back bar wall, along with new exterior cedar siding, were all a part of the carpentry services provided for this project. Boaz Millworks also built a variety of shapes and sizes of table tops for the dining room, all of which were locally sourced, quarter-sawn white oak.

Strategic structural work

Critical structural issues were identified at the start of the project. Quick and efficient solutions were implemented to address these issues without affecting the tight timeline. This included reinforcing the floor system in the bar area to handle heavy loads inherent with bar equipment and refrigeration needs. The Boaz team also worked hand-in-hand with the architect to come up with a solution that fulfilled ADA requirements at the entrance, allowing for ease of access for wheelchairs.

Collaboration with Owner

Boaz Construction was able to collaborate with the owners on aesthetic elements to achieve the vision and goals for the project. Lighting placement was re-worked from the original design plans in order to produce the ambiance the owners envisioned. Table tops were built and added to accommodate alterations to the layout and design once the business reopened and the customer flow was realized. When the owners decided they wanted gas lighting on the exterior of the building, the team was able to run the necessary mechanicals to the front of the building to accommodate this addition.
